Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park has one of the most comprehensive martial arts coach education and training programs in the Kempton Park region. Simply because someone is wearing a black belt or brown belt does not make him or her a qualified coach. Coaches and Instructors who earn an endorsement from Freestyle Judo South Africa Alliance Org. (FJSAOAO) & Judo For All South Africa (JFASA) and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park must complete an intensive and exhaustive coach education program, sign a strict code of conduct and go through renewal and in-service classes every two years to maintain their status as endorsed JFASAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park Coaches and Instructors. ENDORSEMENT LEVELS There are two levels of endorsement for coaches at FJSAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park based on experience, technical expertise and education. COACH/SENSEI A person who is endorsed as a Coach must hold a minimum rank of Black Belt (Shodan and higher) and successfully complete the FJSAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park Education program. A Coach must also possess a high degree of technical skill in his or her martial art specialty (judo, jujitsu, kurash or other). INSTRUCTOR/SEMPAI A person who is endorsed as an Instructor must hold a minimum rank of Brown Belt / Junior Black (1st Kyu) and successfully complete the FJSAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park Coach Education program. An Instructor works (either directly or indirectly) under the supervision of a FJSAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park Coach and serves as an “assistant coach.” The Specifics of FJSAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park Coaching Education: FJSAOA & JFASA and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park Education Program is a comprehensive and in-depth program that places emphasis on; Technical Expertise in Judo, Jujitsu and Kurash

Sensei / Head Coach / Chief Instructor Alwyn Grobbelaar
Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar has over 34 years of training in the martial arts Judo. He began his formal instruction in Judo, at the Middelburg Judo Club in Mpumalanga, South Africa, 1984-1988 where he took over the coaching role as a green belt when his sensei had been called for two years compulsory national military service, continue his training at Atlas Judo Club in Kempton Park, Gauteng from 1989 to 2011. In 2011 Sensei Alwyn opened the Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park (Old Ritoru Tatsu Judo Club) , in Bonaero Park, Kempton Park, Gauteng. Become Head Instructor at Kempton Park Judo Club in 2011 (one of the oldest Judo Clubs within the Gauteng region) and later become the owner of this Dojo. In 2013 Sensei Alwyn combined both Ritoru Tatsu Judo Club and Kempton Park Judo Club and form a new alliance called Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park (old Ritoru Tatsu Kempton Park Judo Club) in the Kempton Park indoor sport Centre. Since then this Judo Club and Academy to be one of the largest and most well-respected Judo schools in the Kempton Park, Gauteng. In 2018 Sensei Alwyn has created the newly form Freestyle Judo South Africa Organization Alliance & Judo For All South Africa and Ritoru Tatsu Freestyle Judo Academy & Club Kempton Park , with the assistance of 8th Degree Black Belt Steve Scott from the International Freestyle Judo alliance and Welcome Mat Judo Club in America and Sensei Sampson Sampson 8th Degree Black Belt from Judo For All United King Dome and Sobell Judo Club. Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar currently holds the following ranks/certifications:

- Judo (JSA) – 3rd Degree Black Belt (Sandan)
- Certified National Level 3 European Judo Union (EJU) Coach
- Certified National Level 3 Judo South Africa (JSA) Coach
- Certified Ekurhuleni Judo Association Provincial Coach
- Was a JSA Group 1 and 2 (for the 9, 10, 11, 12 YEARS ) National Coach
- Certified JSA National Level “C” Judo Referee
- Certified EJA Provincial Level “A” Judo Table Official
- Certified JSA National Junior Black Belt Grading Master
- Was the assistant National Coach and Player for the South Africa Judo Team to the 2012 Common Wealth Championships in Cardiff, Wales, where he himself achieved a silver medal.
- National Team Manager/Coach for South Africa Kurash Team participated in the Africa Kurash International Tournament 12-13 July 2013 – Kempton Park Indoor Sport Centre, Kempton Park, Gauteng South Africa.
- Certified Level 1 First Aider
In addition Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar has served for many years as an EJA Provincial Coordinator for Judo Tournaments and activities, as a member of the EJA Coach Education Committee, as a certified Coach Education Course Instructor, and was the former Chairman of the Ekurhuleni Judo Association.

Sensei / Assistant Coach: Monique Grobbelaar
Monique has over 20 years of training in the martial arts Judo. She started Judo at the age of 4 years to current . She trains under Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar and are assistant instructor for the advance judo players and Little Dragons (age 4-6 years) under the supervision of Coach / Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar Monique was part of a selected group to complete their high school at the Tuks High School for Sport at the University of Pretoria, Gauteng and trained under the Tukkies’s Olympic Judo Coach / Sensei Nikola Filipov, Olympic Bronze Medalist Zack Pointek, Olympian Patrick Trezise and Olympian Jacque van Zyl at the High Performance Centre at the High Performance Centre of the University of Pretoria. Monique was also part of the South Africa Judo Team that participated at the Junior Africa Championships (Gold medal) and at the Junior World Championships (Silver medal) that was hosted in Cape Town, numerous times SA Champion. She was part of the South Africa Kurash Team, she achieved a gold medal at the 2013 International Kurash Championships hosted in Kempton Park. Instructor Monique Grobbelaar currently holds the following ranks/certifications:

Instructor: Chane Grobbelaar
Chane has over 16 years of training in the martial arts Judo. She started Judo at the age of 4 years to current . She trains under Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar and are assistant instructor for the Little Dragons (age 4-6 years) and advance judo players under the supervision of Coach / Sensei Alwyn Grobbelaar Chane was numerous times South Africa Judo champion in her Judo career as a Judoka. She was part of the South Africa Kurash team that participated in the International Kurash Championships in 2013 where she achieve a silver medal. Instructor Chane Grobbelaar currently holds the following ranks/certifications:

- Certified Provincial Level “C” Judo Table Official
- Certified Level 1 First Aider
