IF YOU ARE A GRAPPLER THEN THIS FIGHT NIGHT IS FOR YOU TO COME AND SHOW YOUR GRAPPLING TALLENT AND TO HAVE FUN AND BUILD FRIENDSHIP!!

All Grapplers (Judo, BJJ, Jui-Jitsu, Wrestling, MMA, Sambo)  are welcome to enter!!

Kosen Judo (Ground Fighting Only)  Gi and No-Gi  Tournament (Long Gi pants; T-shirt and/or Body Shirt)

Mat 2:  

Freestyle Judo Gi and No-Gi Tournament 

Registration and Entry Fees:

  • Kosen Judo:  R50.00p/entry
  • Freestyle Judo:  R50.00p/entry
  • Both category entry: R80.00 (Freestyle and Kosen Judo)

Important Notice:

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Open to all members of Freestyle Judo South Africa Organization Alliance, Freestyle Judo Ritoru Tatsu Fight Club South Africa, Judo Players(JSA / IJF), Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu, Ju-Jitsu, Wrestling, Sambo, Kurash, MMA all Grappling martial artists who want to participate in Freestyle Judo Grappling.
  • TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES AND RULES:

All Throws using the legs are permitted (see an example of Judo Throws using the legs):

The below throws are penalized by IJF Rules, and this is what we lost from Judo

  • Kata Guruma (Standing or Sitting )
  • Sukui-Nagi
  • Kibisu-gaeshi (single leg takedown or Ankle Pick)
  • Kuchiki Taoshi ( single leg takedown)
  • Morote Gari (double leg takedown, No Dive in or Rugby Tackle will be allowed)
  • Te Guruma (Hand Wheel Throw)
  • Tawara Gaeshi (Rice Bale Reversal)

No kansetsu waza (arm bar/locks) or shime waza (Strangulations/chokes) are allowed in any competition for a novice judoka (Orange Belt and below) and age 11years and under.

Notes:

  • Competitors will be divided into the most appropriate weight ranges on the day of the tournament after all participants have weighed in or weight checks.
  • FJSAOA, and IFJA rules and regulations apply.
  • Any Participants that bad mouth, make bad remarks, or engage in bad behavior will be disqualified and be escorted from the tournament and premises.
  • NO ALCOHOL allowed inside neither the venue nor the premises at All Times.
  • No refunds will be issued for disqualified players.
  • NO Mat side coaching allowed.

The following actions and techniques are not allowed and will be penalized by a Hansokumaki (immediate disqualification)

  • Head locking with a grip over the neck
  • Ankle locking
  • Wrist locking
  • Knee locking
  • Neck cranks
  • Scissor’s Throw (Kani Basami in Judo)

Important Notice:

Please bring with a copy of your entry confirmation email (form) and proof of payment. This is to be presented at the door.

Fight Night  Age and  Weight Divisions Applicable:

• Age 10 and under can get Ippon by throw or 25-second pin

• Age 11 to 14 get Ippon for throw, 25-sec pin, or choke/Strangle

• Age 15-UP  get Ippon by throw, choke or arm lock only.

Note: Age 15-UP, Points awarded for Waza-ari and Ne-Waza,  No Waza-ari Wazette Ippon in this age group.

Boys 5-10 Weight Category (No Arm Bar/Locks and Strangles/Chokes allowed)

  • Lightweight     – 24 kg
  • Middleweight   24–42 kg
  • Heavyweight     + 42kg

Girls 5-10 Weight Category (No Arm Bar/Locks and Strangles/Chokes allowed)

  • Lightweight     – 25 kg
  • Middleweight   25–40 kg
  • Heavyweight     + 40kg

Boys 11-14 Weight Category (Only Arm Bar/Locks allowed)

  • Lightweight     – 34 kg
  • Middleweight   34–50 kg
  • Heavyweight     + 50kg

Girls 11-14 Weight Category (Only Arm Bar/Locks allowed)

  • Lightweight     – 36kg
  • Middleweight   36–52kg
  • Heavyweight     + 52kg

Men Weight Category 15+ (By Ippon throws, points and sub-mission)

  • Lightweight     – 68 kg
  • Middleweight   68–80 kg
  • Heavyweight     + 80 kg

Ladies Weight Category 15+ (By Ippon throws, points and sub-mission)

  • Lightweight     – 48 kg
  • Middleweight   48–66 kg
  • Heavyweight     + 66 kg
